Dr Johnson's House is dedicated to the writer, lexicographer and wit, Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784), and located in the house where he was a tenant. The collection contains furniture, books, manuscripts, prints, paintings and portraits of Johnson and key acquaintances, including a depiction of a black man, alleged to be Johnson's servant.
