Gardens & Parks
Dr Neils Garden is the work of the doctors couple Drs Nancy and Andrew Neil. They started to develop the garden in the 1960s. They both passed away in 2005 and today the garden is in the hands of Dr Neil’s Garden Trust.
The garden consists mostly of conifers, heathers and alpines, with primulas (including the rare Pubescens), magnolias, rhododendrons, azaleas and many other shrubs.
There is also the Thomson’s Tower, built in 1825 and designed by William Henry Playfair. It was constructed for the Duddingston Curling Society to store its stones.
Dr Neils Garden is also a venue for Photo shooting for weddings.
