The Jesmond Dene Park was created in the 1850s by Lord Armstrong, an armament manufacturer, in the Victorian style. He and his wife has a fascination for water and consequently constructed a waterfall near the water mill and bridges.
They additionally introduced exotic non-native species of trees and shrubs such as cedars, junipers, Californian Redwoods and the rhododendron.
