Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Vihorlat Museum - The Castle/Manor House in Humenne has a long history, which dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was built as a water castle. In the beginning of the 17th century, the manor house became the architectural appearance that it preserved until today.

The ownership of the estate has gone through different nobel families by inheritance such as Petenyi, Keglevich, Althan and Zichy. In the more recent history, from the beginning of the 19th century, in 1812, due to the marriage of Karol Andrássy and Etelka Száparyová, the history of the estate is connected with this noble family.

The elegant building offers a good view of the residential culture of the nobility from the renaissance period to the 20th century. In addition the house displays interesting exhibitions of Natural Science and Religious Art in the chapel of the Virgin Mary.

Furthermore the visitors can admire an exhibition of the life and work of the graphic artist, illustrator and painter Orest Dubay (1919 - 2005).

The nobel residence is surrounded by a large park and folk architecture and housing.
