Grassalkovich Palace - Presidential Palace

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
The Grassalkovich Palace, the official residence of the Slovakian President, was built in 1760 for Count Anton Grassalkovich, chairman of the Hungarian Royal Chamber and advisor to Empress Maria Theresa.

Behind the Palace is a large charming park in French style, with old trees and lawns, as well as a statue of the Empress Maria Theresa on horseback, the Fountain of Youth by prominent Slovak sculptor Tibor Bártfay, and avant-garde statues by contemporary artists.

In front of the building there is a fountain in a shape of the Earth as a symbol of freedom.

The Palace is open to the public in principle only one day every year, generally the 14th of June, and on special occasions.
