Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Arlington Court estate, covering today 1,417 ha (3.500 acres), has been in the hands of the Chichester family for over five hundred years, before it was donated to the National Trust in 1949 by the last unmarried owner of the family, Rosalie Chichester.

The house itself, designed by architect Thomas Lee, was built for Colonel John Palmer Chichester in 1822. It replaced an earlier Georgian house. In addition, the house was expanded in 1865 by his grandson, Sir Alexander Palmer Bruce Chichester, 2nd Baronet (1842-1881).

The house, with its homely atmosphere, contains antique furniture and a wide variety of objects, brought together by eleven generations of the Chichester family.

Arlington Court is surrounded by a formal Victorian, full of beautiful flowers, a Walled Kitchen Garden, with many varieties of fruit and vegetables, pleasure park and grounds, with the Wilderness Pond and Deerpark Wood…

The stables are housing The Carriage Museum, with vehicles for all occasions.
