Castle Drogo & Garden
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Castle Drogo & Garden was the last castle to be built in England. It was constructed between 1911 and 1930, for Julius Drewe, the founder of Home and Colonial Stores. It was designed by Edwin Lutyens.
George Dillistone was, together with Gertrude Jekyll, involved in the garden design.
The castle, containing the Drewe collection, was given to the NationalTrust in 1947, and was the first 20th century building it acquired.
