Saltram House
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Saltram House, a Georgian house, was home to the Parker family (Barons and Earls of Morley) from 1743 to 1951, when it became in public hands in lieu of death duties. The interior is magnificently decorated with original contents, including Chinese wallpapers, furniture, a library, exceptional paintings and portraits...
The 'plantsmans' garden, originally developed in landscape style during the 18th century, dates mostly from the late 19th century, when it was created by the 3rd Earl of Morley.
There are also a working 18th-century orangery and follies.
