Audley End House is a large early 17th century house, and was longtime the seat of the Barons Braybrooke. In 1948 it was sold to the predecessor of English Heritage, the Ministry of Works, by the 9th Lord Braybrooke.
The house contains a beautiful art collection, in particular Old Master paintings.
The surrounding park was designed by the famous Lancelot 'Capability' Brown.
There is also a restored Kitchen Garden, which was opened in 2000 by Prince Charles.
