Acorn Bank, a historic house, garden and watermill. Its history goes back to the Knights Templar in 1228 and the Knights of the Hospital of St John, who held it from 1323 until the Dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII.
In 1950 it was donated by Dorothy Una Ratcliffe, together with 73 ha (180 acres) of park and woodland to the National Trust. She was a writer, traveller and art collector.
Acorn has a walled garden with fruit, flowers and over 250 varieties of herbs. The grounds include a restored watermill, dating back to 1323.
