Chiswick House was built in 1729 for the 3rd Earl of Burlington and belonged to the Dukes of Devonshire until 1929. The house is filled with the breath-taking Burlington-Devonshire collection. Having been severely damaged during WW II, the house and gardens (26 ha) have restored and reopened to the public.
